But in 1 John 5:1–12, John reminds us that Jesus is the only prize truly worth pursuing. When God gives us new life in Christ, he gives us new loves: a love for the Father, a love for his people, and a growing love for his ways. Through faith in Jesus, we can overcome the empty promises of the world and trust God even when obedience is difficult. God has made it clear that real and lasting life is found in his Son.
